Brad Kittle (right) has been appointed senior pastor of Praise Point UB (Willshire, Ohio), effective April 1, 2011. He had been senior pastor of The Rock, a UB church in Findlay, Ohio (originally called Faith Community), since 2008. Kittle replaces Mark Rutledge, who had served as senior pastor of Praise Point since January 2006. A special retirement service was held for Rutledge on March 27, 2011.

Praise Point was formed in January 2003 when two UB churches, Zion and Willshire, merged. They sold their previous buildings and constructed a brand new facility in a prominent location in Willshire. That building was dedicated in September 2006.

Jason Hollopeter retired as senior pastor of Corunna UB (Corunna, Ind.). The new senior pastor is Kevin Whitacre, who started on January 1, 2011. Kevin was previously youth pastor of The Well in Huntington, Ind.

Michael Sturgill was appointed supply pastor at Olivet UB (New Lebanon, Ohio) after the passing of former senior pastor George Rhodifer in July 2010. Michael holds a local license and was being mentored by George.

Bill Blue has been appointed senior pastor of Shoreline Church (Oak Harbor, Ohio), effective January 1, 2011. Involved in the stationing process were Bishop Phil Whipple, cluster leader Brad Kittle, and Personnel Relations chairperson Tally Gallogly. Bill, formerly youth pastor of Fowlerville UB (Fowlerville, Mich.), replaces Steve Fish, who concluded his ministry at Shoreline on November 14 (as reported earlier).

Mike Stine resigned as pastor of Mt. Carmel UB (Fulks Run, Va.) effective December 31, 2010. The stationing team consists of Bishop Phil Whipple, cluster leader Dennis Sites, and local PRC chairperson Lynn Mohler.

Allen “Rocky” Layne has been named senior pastor of West Pleasant Hill UB (Rockbridge, Ohio) effective August 1, 2010. He is also planting a United Brethren church called Eternal Water. He and a core group are personally funding the church plant, which began April 4, 2010.

George Speas has been appointed interim pastor at Pleasant Valley UB church (Lake Odessa, Mich.), following the resignation of Ken Himebaugh.

Ron Cook has been appointed long-term interim pastor at Criders UB Church (Chambersburg, Pa.) through 2011.

Michael Anderson has been named senior pastor of Good Shepherd UB church in Greenfield, Ohio. His first Sunday was June 6. On that day, Mike and his family, plus five others, became members of Greenfield church. That makes 10 new members in one day.

Rev. Anderson is licensed with the Ohio Council of Christian Union. He had been serving fulltime as Director of New Directions, a non-denominational community-wide youth ministry founded in 1989 to reach out to students in grades 7-12 in the Greenfield, Ohio, area.

Mike and his wife, Becky, have three children.

Randy Carpenter (right) has been named senior pastor of Sunfield UB (Sunfield, Mich.). His first Sunday will be May 9. Randy is a 1990 graduate of Huntington University, and holds Masters degrees from Huntington University and from Winebrenner Theological Seminary (Findlay, Ohio). He was ordained in 1993.

Randy has served as senior pastor at two other UB churches:

  • 1993-1995: Third Street (now Anchor) UB in Fort Wayne, Ind.
  • 1995-2006: Oak Harbor UB (now Shoreline) in Oak Harbor, Ohio.

Mark Wilson has been named senior pastor of Fowlerville UB (Fowlerville, Mich.). He grew up in a pastor’s home, graduated in 1989 from United Wesleyan College (Allentown, Pa.) with a degree in Pastoral Ministry, and was ordained by the Wesleyan Church in 1991 after two years of service.

Mark served as senior pastor of two different Wesleyan churches 1989-1996, and then worked in secular positions for seven years–a software company, a marketing company, a children’s museum. He then re-entered fulltime ministry, serving as Family Ministry Pastor at Kentwood Community Church (Kentwood, Mich.) 2006-2009.

Mark and his wife, Carla, have three daughters, ages 22-25 (two of them married).
