06 Dec Pastoral Changes

• Ron Evans was assigned as the senior pastor at the Mt. Zion Church (Decatur, Ind.), effective October 16.
• Kent Maxwell was assigned as interim pastor at the Lancaster Church (Lancaster, Ohio) for the period of October 30, 2005 to January 31, 2006.
• Dennis Rowe has been assigned as the senior pastor of the Hillsdale church (St. Marys, Ohio), effective December 4.

16 Sep Pastoral Assignment: Alexandria, Ind.

Terry Taylor has been appointed as the senior pastor at Innisdale Church (Alexandria, Ind.), effective September 11, 2005. He had been serving with Rev. Larry Schimmel (the former pastor) as an associate pastor.

07 Sep Jody Harr Appointed to Van Wert

Jody Harr has been named interim pastor of the UB church in Van Wert, Ohio. He was previously pastor of the Willshire, Ohio, UB church.

13 Jan Pastoral Changes

• Jenna Zirbel is the new pastor of McGuire Bend UB church in Dayton, Iowa.
• Michigan Conference has stationed Scott Hardaway at the Gethsemane UB church in Jackson, starting in February. He previously served as associate pastor of the UB church in Hillsdale, Mich.

08 Dec Among Ministers….

• St. Mary’s, Ohio. Mike Spaulding has been named interim pastor of Hillsdale UB church in St. Mary’s, effective December 5.
• Lucile Cook, wife of Herbert Cook, passed away December 7. Services were in Desert Hot Spring, Calif.
• Dan Millard is no longer pastor of Northland UB in Traverse City, Mich. Carlson Becker is serving as interim pastor.
• Robert Lust is no longer at First UB church in Columbus, Ohio. The pastoral staff at Franklin Church in New Albany, Ohio, will provide pastoral oversight during the transition. Mike Brown and George McCombs are the pastors.

11 Nov Pastoral Change in Columbus, Ohio

Bob Lust is no longer pastor of First UB in Columbus. The pastoral staff at Franklin Church in New Albany, Ohio, will provide pastoral oversight for this congregation during the transition.

20 Oct Among Ministers….

• Dan Young has been appointed senior pastor of Crestview UB church in Lafayette, Ind., effective October 7. He had been serving as a part-time interim pastor at Crestview since July 1. Dan will continue on a part-time basis while he finishes some schooling this semester, and will be full-time around the first of the year. He has previously pastored the UB church in Coleta, Ill., First UB in Findlay, Ohio, and Faith UB in Findlay (a church he planted).
• Dick Case has been appointed senior pastor of Dillman UB church (Warren, Ind.) effective November 1. Dick has been serving as a part-time interim pastor at Dillman since September 1. He previously pastored the Crestview UB church in Lafayette, Ind.
• Bryan and Gina Converse will be planting a church for Central Conference in the Daytona/Cincinnati area. They are currently in the very early stages of generating support, and welcome the chance to speak in UB churches.

10 Sep Among Ministers….

• Ron Gonzales will begin as senior pastor of Faith Community UB in Findlay, Ohio, on September 19. He previously pastored the Open Bible Fellowship UB church in Safford, Ariz. Open Bible Fellowship is currently searching for a new pastor.
• Dan Young, who started Faith Community Church in the early 1990s, is now serving as interim pastor of Crestview UB church in Lafayette, Ind.
• Dick Case, formerly pastor of Crestview UB, is serving as interim pastor of Dillman UB in Warren, Ind.
• Bishop Emeritus Ray Seilhamer has been named senior pastor of New Hope UB in Huntington, Ind. He continues serving as associate dean of the Huntington College Graduate School of Christian Ministries.
• Lynn Mefferd, who retired as pastor of Dillman UB (Warren, Ind.), is serving on a part-time basis in an associate role at New Hope UB in Huntington, Ind.
• Toby Lazo is no longer pastor of Victory Celebration Center in Burbank, Calif. A layperson is currently overseeing the church.
• Decatur UB (Decatur, Ind.) has changed its name to Cornerstone Community Church.
• Murray Stevens is the new pastor of Saint James UB (Chambersburg, Pa.).
• Harvest Community UB (Toledo, Ohio) changed its named to North Point UB church. The pastor is Brad Wotring.
• DeWitt UB church (DeWitt, Mich.) has closed.
• Valerie Reynolds is the new senior pastor of Mount Hope UB in Carson City, Mich.
• Roger Burk has assumed the role of fulltime superintendent in Michigan Conference (a position to which he was elected last spring). The former superintendent, David Burkett, is now pastor of Mount Morris UB in Mt. Morris, Mich.
• Stephen Clulow is a new superintendent in Sandusky Conference. He replaces Roger Overmyer.
• Covenant Fellowship UB Church at Steubenville, Ohio, has been closed.
• Red Mountain UB in Birmingham, Ala., has closed. The pastor, Fred Johns, is now pastoring a Wesleyan church in Birmingham.

24 Jun Among Ministers….

• Joe Leighton concluded his tenure as youth minister at Lancaster UB (Lancaster, Ohio) on May 31. During the past year, he has also been the senior pastor at Salem Chapel UB in Junction City, Ohio. He will continue in that role.
• Eric Ross concluded his tenure as supply pastor at Eden UB (Reedsville, Ohio) on May 31.
• Dick Case will conclude his service as senior pastor at Crestview UB (Lafayette, ind.) on June 30.
• Dan Young, formerly a pastor in Sandusky Conference, has been named interim pastor at Crestview UB Lafayette, Ind.) effective July 1. He will be part-time.
• Jennifer Zirbel will become the new pastor of McGuire Bend UB (Dayton, Iowa) on September 1. She is a recent graduate of Methodist Theological School in Ohio and is currently finishing an internship in the British Methodist Church. She will replace Kent Kastler, who is retiring. McGuire Bend will continue sharing pastoral leadership with four nearby United Methodist churches, as they have done since 1998.

• Robert Larimore is the new senior pastor of Trenton Hills UB (Adrian, Mich.) effective November 1.
• Gary Abney has been named senior pastor of Gaines UB (Caledonia, Mich.) effective December 8.
• Wayne Goldsmith has been named interim pastor of Central UB (Montpelier, Ohio) effective November 2003.
• Donald Palmer resigned as senior pastor at Pennfield Road UB (Battle Creek, Mich.), effective September 30. Mr. Tim Smothers is serving as supply pastor.
• Steve Sparks is the new Director of Student Ministries (part-time) at Gethsemane UB (Jackson, Mich.).
• Mrs. Ruth Barnhart, widow of one of former Mid-Atlantic Conference pastor Charles Barnhart, died November 17. She was 91.
• Darren Duncan, our United Brethren representative to the US Air Force, was recently deployed to a classified location in Southwest Asia. He is ministering to the troops who are stationed there through worship, Bible study, counseling, and visitation. Please pray that God would use him and protect him while he is away from his family during the Holidays. Darren is a former pastor in Central Conference.
• Rev. Everett Ray passed away on Monday, November 10. He was a retired ordained minister in Michigan Conference. His wife, Susie, is in a nursing home in Hastings, Mich.
• John Carpenter is no longer Student Ministries Director at Lighthouse Church in Williamston, Mich. The position was cut for financial reasons, effective November 1. He is now pastoring in Florida with another denomination.
• Tim Sovinec resigned as youth pastor at Fountain Hills UB (Fountain Hills, Ariz.) effective November 1. He will not be reassigned in the denomination.
• Donald Skidmore is no longer the associate pastor at Living Water Church Plant in Clarksburg, W. Va.
• Wes Burk has been serving as music minister at Fowlerville UB Church. He resigned that position as of November 30, and has not been assigned to another church at this time.
• Ron Lambright, the former senior pastor at Neshannock Community Church (New Castle, Pa.), has resigned. The effective date is unknown at this time. Patrick Daugherty is serving as the supply pastor at Neshannock at this time.
• Donald Palmer resigned as senior pastor at Pennfield Road Church (Battle Creek, Mich.), effective September 30. Mr. Tim Smothers will be supply pastor at Pennfield Road for the time being.
• Penny Poorman is the new Early Childhood Coordinator at King Street UB (Chambersburg, Pa.) effective October 7.
• Kevin Whitacre is the new Director of Youth and Young Adults at Good Shepherd UB (Huntington, Ind.), effective November 3.
• Here is a new pastoral assignment for your records, effective 9/1/03.
• Don Herb was named Pastoral Assistant at Bethany Evangelical Church (Carlisle, Pa.), and Amy Moreno was named Director of Christian Education. Both assignments took affect in September.
• Rick Burton, formerly the senior pastor at Central UB Church in Montpelier, Ohio, resigned effective October 31. He will not be reassigned at this time. The church will be looking for a pastor.
