These two pastoral appointments were recently made in Pennsylvania:

  • Buck Summers was named senior pastor of the Criders UB church (Chambersburg, Pa.) effective January 2, 2007. David Newell was the previous pastor. He is taking other employment.
  • Paul Dunbar has been named senior pastor of Bethany Evangelical UB church in Carlisle, Pa., effective January 31, 2007. The previous pastor was Larry Reinertson.

Rocky Spear has been named senior pastor of Mongul UB church in Shippensburg, Pa., effective January 21. He previously served on staff at Colwood UB in Caro, Mich.

  • Dalton JenkinsDuring its October 2006 meeting, the Executive Leadership Team accepted a new church into the US National Conference: Bethel Temple of Praise in Yonkers, New York. This is a predominantly Jamaican congregation. The pastor and founder of this church, Dalton Jenkins (right), is originally from our UB churches in Jamaica.
  • Kelly Burside is the new senior pastor of Gaines UB (Caledonia, Mich.) effective October 8, 2006.
  • Dalton JenkinsArthur Page (right, below) will become the new senior pastor of Salem UB (Chambersburg, Pa.) on January 1, 2007. He replaces Ron Cook, who is retiring.
  • Several UB churches continue searching for ministers–in some cases a senior pastor, in others a staff position. Position openings are kept on this page. If your church is in need of a staff position, submit the information here and it will be posted on thle UB website.

  • Troy L. Green is the new senior pastor at Monroe UB church (Monroe, Ind.) effective September 1, 2006.
  • Ray Dutcher is no longer employed at either Pleasant Hill UB Church or Living Hope UB in Greencastle, Pa. His last day was September 17, 2006. He has accepted a position with a non-UB church.

  • Steve Fish has been named senior pastor of Oak Harbor UB church (Oak Harbor, Ohio) effective November 1.
  • Kelly Burnside has been named senior pastor of Gaines UB church (Caledonia, Mich.) effective November 5.

  • Randy Carpenter has resigned as pastor of Oak Harbor UB church in Oak Harbor, Ohio.
  • Ron Gonzales has resigned as pastor of Faith Community Church in Findlay, Ohio, effective at the end of August.
  • Roger Burk, former fulltime superintendent of Michigan Conference, has been hired part-time to work with worship and small groups at East Washington UB church in Ashley, Mich.

  • John Brainard was named supply pastor of Living Word UB church in Columbus, Ohio. His first day will be August 13. He is licensed with the Southern Baptist Convention and is not yet ordained by the UB church.
  • Dan Bentz, former associate pastor of Eden UB church (Mason, Mich.), will be assuming the role of senior pastor.
  • Gary VanderVeen, pastor of Calvary UB church in Saginaw, Mich., will become senior pastor of Faith UB (Port Orange, Fla.) in mid-August.
  • Nathan Baumann was hired on June 13 as the new assistant pastor for youth at Heart O’ the Lakes UB, Brooklyn, Mich.

Ken Himebaugh has been appointed senior pastor of Pleasant Valley UB (Lake Odessa, Mich.) effective August 1. Cluster leader Mark Ralph, pastor of Sunfield UB church (Sunfield, Mich.) will meet with Pleasant Valley’s personnel team in the next few weeks to work out the salary agreement.
Howard Beaver has been named senior pastor of Mt. Olivet UB Church (Chambersburg, Pa.) effective July 15. Cluster leader Milt Herrold, pastor of Orrstown UB (Orrstown, Pa.), and the Personnel Relations Commission from Mt. Olivet worked through the processes needed to make this appointment.

Bishop Ron Ramsey reports: “I am pleased to announce a pastoral appointment to the Bethel UB Church in Elmore, Ohio. The stationing committee has agreed that Robert Norman Pickett should be appointed to this pastorate. Norman will preach at Bethel this Sunday as a pulpit supply and will begin as the newly appointed pastor the first Sunday in June.

“Norman has an AB degree in Christian Education from Point Loma Nazarene University and an MDiv from Bethel Seminary in St. Paul, Minn. He was ordained by the Baptist General Conference in 1982. He was examined and answered the questions asked of candidates for ordination satisfactorily, and upon completion of UB Church History and one year of service to the United Brethren, he will be granted an ordained status.
“Norm and his wife Cindy currently live in Northwood, Ohio, but will move to the Elmore, Ohio, area. Cindy is a registered nurse at the St. Charles Hospital, Oregon, Ohio. They have two grown children, a daughter Leah and a son Micah.”

Greg Voight has been assigned as senior pastor of the Lancaster UB church in Lancaster, Ohio. He had been serving on staff at Oak Harbor UB church in Oak Harbor, Ohio. The assignment is effective May 6.
Mark Rutledge has been named senior pastor of PraisePoint UB church in Willshire, Ohio. The assignment takes place immediately. Rev. Rutledge has been serving there as interim pastor.
