My husband’s mother came from Milas. She apparently left Milas with her widowed mother and siblings before World War 2 , fearing harassment from the local police . The anecdotal tale being that the family were making some sort of alcoholic beverage to sell , to try to earn a little to support themselves. This was not permitted .
