Roger Van Donkelaar has been appointed senior pastor of Trinity UB church (Fostoria, Ohio) effective July 14, 2013. He is ordained in the Wesleyan Church, and pastored various Wesleyan and Free Methodist churches 1971-2010. Roger is a graduate of Spring Arbor Univeristy (Spring Arbor, Mich., 1988), and holds a Masters degree from Trinity Seminary (Deerfield, Ill., 1998). He and his wife, Gladys, have one child.

Stan McCammon (right) has been appointed senior pastor of Lurgan UB church (Lurgan, Pa.) effective August 18, 2013. Stan graduated from Huntington University in 1987 with a degree in Bible & Religion, and earned the Master of Arts in Christian Ministry from Huntington University in 1995. He was ordained in 1995. Stan pastored UB churches in Ohio, Indiana, and Pennsylvania from 1987-2007, including a two-year stint as a UB missionary in Sierra Leone (1991-1992).

Russell Wagner has been appointed senior pastor of Mount Zion UB church (also known as Bobo) outside of Decatur, Ind. Wagner previously pastored Eagle Quest UB church in Columbia City, Ind., 1997-2001. He has been granted a provisional ministerial license.

  • Sam Suman resigned as pastor of Trinity UB church (Fostoria, Ohio) effective January 1, 2013.
  • Randy Marketish has been assigned as senior pastor of Barton Road UB church (Meadville, Pa.) effective January 1, 2013. Randy is a 1987 graduate of Kentucky Mountain Bible College, and was ordained in the Evangelical Wesleyan church in 2001.

Mark Ralph has been assigned to a one-year interim position as senior pastor of Mount Zion UB church in Wayne, Ohio. This follows the recent departure of Michael Soltis as pastor at Mount Zion.

Ralph accepted the position on September 12. His first Sunday at Mount Zion will be September 30, 2012.

Mark Ralph and his wife, Ruth (right), previously served three United Brethren pastorates in Michigan–in Clare, Charlotte, and Sunfield–along with several years in Birmingham, Ala., as UB church planters. He was ordained in 1976. Since leaving Sunfield in 2009, he has pastored a congregation in Transfer, Pa., with the Evangelical Congregational Church. Ralph has roots in the EC Church, where his father pastored for 28 years.

Ralph graduated from Huntington University in 1974, and later earned a master’s degree from Evangelical Theological Seminary.

Tim Sherman (right) has been named senior pastor of Bethel UB church in Elmore, Ohio, effective September 17, 2012. He previously served 7 years on staff at Mt. Zion UB church in Wayne, Ohio (1993-2000), five years with a Reformed church in Michigan. Since 2005, he has served on staff at Mainstreet Church in Walbridge, Ohio.

Mike Soltis has resigned as senior pastor of Mt. Zion UB church (Wayne, Ohio) effective August 11, 2012.

Dawn and Jay Spangler

Dawn Spangler, an ordained minister in the Church of the Nazarene, has been named supply pastor of Strinestown UB church (Strinestown, Pa.).

Dawn was born in Dundalk, Md., and moved to New Cumberland, Pa., when she was in junior high. Dawn’s first career was in food service. She managed a school cafeteria, directed the food service at a large retirement community, and ran a catering business out of her home.

In 1996, Dawn felt God calling her to the ordained ministry. She served ten years as associate pastor of the New Cumberland Nazarene church, during which time she took the classes which enabled her to be ordained in 2002. After retiring from New Cumberland in 2006, she served two years at a Nazarene church in Carlisle, and has spent the past four years doing pulpit supply.

She and Jay, a high school classmate and “the love of my life,” have a daughter and a son living in the area. They also adopted and raised, from age 10, a grandson; Dawn will conduct his wedding in September. Jay originally worked in manufacturing and then started his own landscape business.

George Etling has been appointed senior pastor at Fifth Street Church (Staunton, Va.) effective May 1, 2012. Harry Moore, who supplied the pulpit for 16 years, retired on April 29. George and his wife, Cheri, had been part of the Jerusalem Chapel UB church in in Churchville, Va., where George received his local ministerial license.

Josh Good (right) has been appointed senior pastor at Homefront Church (Grandville, Mich.), effective May 1, 2012. He had been serving as Pastor of Discipleship and Youth at Banner of Christ UB (Byron Center, Mich.) since 2003. Before that, he served two years (1999-2001) as youth pastor at Heart O the Lakes UB (Brooklyn, Mich.).

Howard Beaver, senior pastor of Mt. Olivet Church (Chambersburg, Pa.) since July 2006, announced that he will retire on June 30, 2012. Prior to serving with the United Brethren church, Howard served with the Pennsylvania-Delaware Council of the Assemblies of God, in which he was ordained in the 1980s. The Mt.
