The Hillsdale UB church (Hillsdale, Mich.) is seeking a Transitional Pastor to lead them into the future, as the Senior Pastor plans to retire at the end of 2017. In order to provide a smooth transition, we seek to employ a staff pastor this summer who will gradually assume the responsibilities of Senior Pastor by the end of the year. The preferred starting date for this fulltime position is August 2017.
The HUB is the largest church in Hillsdale County with an average attendance of over 450. There are three separate ministry buildings on our campus. During this millennium, the HUB has more than doubled in size and averaged one conversion per week. This outreach-minded congregation provides a number of community ministries, including Upwards Basketball, Celebrate Recovery, AWANA, and the Hope Renewed Counseling Center. In our Activity Center, we host the weekly sessions of Building Better Marriages of Hillsdale County, and up to 100 teens participate in our high-energy Youth ministry.
We are seeking candidates who have demonstrated leadership abilities by growing a ministry. Other desirable traits include transformational preaching and the ability to effectively manage staff. Besides the Senior Pastor, our staff includes four fulltime and four part-time employees. Applicants should possess a graduate ministry degree or be in the process of earning one. Past experience must include serving in some form of leadership role at a church of at least 800 in attendance.
We cannot guarantee the new pastor will become the Senior Pastor, because the United Brethren denomination has that authority. However, that is our intent and our Bishop is kept fully informed on our progress.
Interested candidates should respond no later than June 1, 2017. Candidates are invited to submit a resume or download the Minister’s Profile Form from the United Brethren website send it to the HUB. Questions can be directed by email to Les Smith, Senior Pastor of the HUB.
