Christmas at Our Church: Junction City, Ohio

Joe Leighton (right), senior pastor, Salem Chapel (Junction City, Ohio)

We set a new high total for our church in collecting 321 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. For the 14th consecutive year, we sent a team of people to Boone, N.C., to help pack and prepare to ship the collected boxes that will go around the world. Our eight-person team was part of a group that processed over 100,000 boxes over the course of one weekend. Our delegate, Bill Morgan, is a prayer ambassador for Operation Christmas Child, traveling and speaking to churches about this ministry. He has also been to Honduras to help distribute the Christmas boxes.

Joe, that is awesome! I knew Bill was going to other churches and helping them with their shoebox ministry, but I didn’t realize how many boxes Salem Chapel put together on their own. Mt. Zion sent money out to AZ (Steve and Debbie Cartwright) to do something similar for the Native American children on the reservation). We also sent items we had collected over time. They put together book bags of all kinds of items. Some of those items were school supplies. This will be our last year for that since they have other plans when they go back after HMA this coming year and part of 2016. Annette
